Which 25-PDVC owners have run 1-0 settings?

Just wondering how many 25-PDVC owners have run with Heat on 1 and Blower on 0? Just use the radiant heat from stove. With these warm temps this week here in PA if I run at 1-1 like normal I'll get blown out but shutting off stove the house will get chilly by morning.

I have yet to burn the stove during the day while I'm at work and I'm using the stove as primary heat space for a 1,000 sq ft house. Crazy weather.

You can shut the blower off on the PDVC?? I thought 1-1 was the lowest it went?

Matt, how old is that stove? If it's fairly new, there's a problem......no Englander control panel will allow a "0" setting on the blower, as far as I know.

Both of mine will allow it to be turned off at 0...Others recently report this also https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/englander-25-pdvc-england-stove-works.95066/page-3..posts 55 to 59 specifically. I never run with the convection blower off or lower than the heat range setting.

My stove is an 04 and with the original control I could run my stove at 1-0 I now have a replacement control board and I can still run 1- 0 this is with the lower three buttons at 4-3-1,however rather than running the stove on 1-0 I crack a window open

Between family and friends we have four 25pdvc's and two 25pdv's.

All of the 25pdvc's were made before 2008, the 25pdv's were made after 2010.

All of us with the 25pdvc's can run them on a 1 heat and 0 blower setting, BUT three of them will shut down within 30 - 45 minutes due to overheating. We usually maintain equal numbers for heat & blower (on a low heat setting only) or set the blower one number higher than the heat setting.

My son and neice said that they cannot run their 25pdv's on the 1 heat, 0 blower settings at all.

Maybe Englander changed something in their control boards that prevents their stoves to operate with a 0 blower speed setting

Stove was made in 2009. Overheating didn't dawn on me but makes sense. I'll just have to crack a window or keep cycling the unit on and off on the days where temps are 35 or higher.

My old '06 pdvc was able to turn the blower on 0........

I can and have used mine at 1-0 setting with out over heating. But i've now leaned to keep it at 1-1 and lower the other settings to 4-4-1 or 3-4-1 and it stays just warm enough to not have to put on a sweatshirt.

I would think the risk of overheating would out weigh the benefit. Why wouldn't you lower your LLF and LBA. Or if its that warm shut the stove off.

I have never set the LLF or LBA since I have owned the stove. I am willing to give that a try and lower the settings from 6-4-1 to 4-4-1 or 3-4-1 but I have just read some posts on here of people saying you shouldn't do it. I would hate to mess up the stove somehow since it has been working well. The only time it gets tough is when the temps are between 35-45, warm enough that the stove on 1-1 will blow me out and at the same time cold enough that if I shut down stove house gets chilly.

matt, i would try with 5-4-1 first and go from there. at 4-4-1 it will keep just enough pellets to keep the stove hot but not 'HOT'. I've only ran it at 3-4-1 once or twice but really didn't like how it burned. I run 4-4-1 (1-1) with somerset pellets, they are much smaller in size than what i've used before them and it keept it at 70-72 in my living room.

When it gets colder i push it up to 5-5-1 and then adjust as usual on the other 2 settings

Pretty interesting. My 10-cpm will not allow it to go to 1 on the blower. Lowest is 1-1...that's it. It was made 3/08, but board was replaced right after I got it (under warranty....bad button), so it had the latest revision.

BUT, I've never put my AOT at 0 either.

Curious what Mike has to say about this.....does anyone remember him ever commenting on it?

My 25 PDVC can also be set to 0 on the blower -- Date of man 05/12. I have not run it with the blower off, and don't intend too just in case.

I've never put my AOT on 0 either...No I don't think Mike ever commented..Question for you if you don't mind...Do you know if there is a way to know what revision you have? When I tore mine down for their annual springtime gasket replacement,blower cleaning etc..I looked the boards over , the only thing apparent was 2004-2 printed on them.

Interesting information... with the weather coming this weekend I believe the stove will be turned off for most of the time.... 62 for a high on Sunday in my area.

I'll look into adjusting the LLF on the warmer burn days.

I knew that....just never thought about turning it to "0" and THEN turning blower to "0" too....never would have entered my mind to do that.

That's the thing...I was able to turn my pdvc on 0 but never ran it that way....not really sure why you'd even want to.......I think eventually it would kick off on hi-temp.....

There is a white sticker on the main computer chip....mine says something like "EnglanderCPMRev1".
