I was considering the Blaze King Princess, but realized the size foot print was too big.

Looking at the Jotul F445 or the Hearthstone GM60 or Shelburne.
I cannot find hardly any reviews on the F445.
It takes up to a 20” log and its dimensions will work and 1500 sqft heating is plenty.
Not sure about its operation with that no bypass Cat? 9 hours burn seems enough for a new stove these days?

The Gm60 looks nice tskes 18” log but is rated up to 2000 sqft but has a longer heat time bring soapstone?

Any pros and cons to either or a recommendation?
Price is close
I’m looking for the best bang for the.buck and wood burning efficiency

Thanks

Look at pacific energy T5 or smaller T4. I don’t think I can recommend the F445 or GM60.

TN20 would be worth looking at.

Nice looking stoves.
I have a Cat stove now and like they way it burns and saved on wood. What I did like they call for 16” logs but will take 18”
The only save wood on the low and slow burn rate compared to new secondary combustion tube stoves.

Jotul F445 just came out last year so you won’t find many reviews. Only saw a couple on FB and they were positive.

Maybe take a look at Woodstock as well if you prefer cat stoves but I think most of their stoves are sold out at this time?

Best bang for your buck stove out there imo is Drolet but all noncats.

I’m spoiled with my Cat stove since when burning overnight I don’t worry about creosote buildup. The extra expense of the cat every few years is worth it to me.
Plus the choice between a steel or Cast stove limits my choice since I never had a steel stove so I like the cast and don’t want to take the chance of making a bad choice

What’s wrong with your current stove? It seems you really like it.

It's leaking for sure on one side between the side panel. The combusted air combustion unit is stainless but it's basically gone now and cant be replaced. The combuster is not working 100% and I know for sure it's using more wood than it used to. It's 37 years old. However it's been a great stove, they stop making them. Plus I just feel like a new stove.

How bout the Lopi Rockport cast iron Hybrid stove? Up to 2000 sq ft. Very efficient at 80%
Since it's a Cat stove Im sure it can be throttled down without too much worry of creosote build up.

Anyone have one out there, price?

It’s 2.0 cu ft. And probably over $5k. Pick a big Drolet. Skip the cat. Those mild days the pellet stove will cycle and do just fine.

I think Woodstock is shipping maybe three stoves now: Progress, Fireview, and Absolute Steel, though they may be in production of only one model at a time at this point, as they did last fall. First they built Fireviews and then the Progress Hybrids like crazy right up to 12/31.

LOVE my Progress Hybrid.

I think the GM60 is OK if you’ve got a chimney that it will get along with? Or do you not recommend it because the cat gets clogged?

Nice looking stove. It's too big for my needs and up another 1k in price. I was looking at the steel hybrid stove, Regency and Lopi, they are very nice but steel .. I always had a Cast iron stove and I think I would miss the radiant heat. etc.

Steel and cast iron are very similar as far as heat feel but most steel stoves are heavily shielded and convective. Jotul, Hearthstone and Woodstock are radiant heaters.

Drolets are not shielded?

Steel stoves don't leak - which seems to be the problem with your cast.iron stove.

Once you go steel, you don't go back.

The BK Ashford, as well as PE alderlea are steel stoves with cast iron panels for the looks (and some thermal mass).

The f45 and F55 were steel stoves. More convective. Same with the T 4,5,6 series from PE. Drolet had one 3.0 cu ft that was jacketed and another that wasn’t. Is that still the case?

Yes I believe Drolet has a large radiant stove as well as a medium.
