Whitfield Advantage II-T Gasket Replacement

I am thinking that I may have put the new door and ash gaskets in wrong when I replaced them. Should I cram them down into the crack after I clean it, or do I just fill with the sealer and press it in.

I used a screw driver to push it in tight. I think I am still getting airleaks...
