whitfield profile 20 blower motors trouble

hey all. this site has been really helpful for me so far so i figured i would give it another go. Ive got a new to me profile 20 stove and just recently hooked it up to a t-stat. it works great yet now that it is shutting off so often i have noticed that the fans are turning off and the fire is still going. sometimes it can get pretty smokey. is there a temp sensor or something i should check? replace? thanks for any info.

Hi Matt, Welcome to the forum. Have you tried cleaning the photo eye? This photo eye is the Proof Of Fire sensor ( POF ). If this is dirty the stove will shut down about 30 minutes after start up, even if pellets are burning in the pot. Smoke is likely to enter the room in this situation, which is also what you are stating in your post.
On pages 26 and 27 in the owners manual it is described very detailed how to do this. If you don't have the owners manual, it can be downloaded from this link:

is it possible my stove doesnt have this photoeye option? i emptied the hopped and there is no cover plate except for the auger cover with the 4 nuts which hold it in place.

The owners manual from Lennox only deals with the second generation of the stoves. The Profile 20-2 and 30-2. Your Profile 20 must be of the first generation.

so is it true like said in that thread about it being a warranty part. probably not but maybe someone knows where to get one cheaper than 200

you dont "need" the relocation kit. the way its mounted now its looking through a slot in the pellet chute (about the thickness of a butter knife). Just check to make sure there's no sawdust up in the chute. You may have some difficulty trying to get it installed or covered by any type of warranty since you are not the original owner. I dont know if they ever offered a transferable warranty.

Is it possible to clean the lens if you use a mirror and a handtorch? First a long brush to remove the worst and then some wet paper ( news paper is fine ) to polish the surface for maximum transparency?

This issue has been discussed numerous times on the forum and after the cleaning the stoves usually run perfectly.
