My 2001 Profile 30 keeps shutting down with the control panel blinking as a result of a fault. Stove can be clean or dirty, hot or cold when this happens with no evident pattern or reason. They did do a free replacement on power cords due to a problem and I did replace mine. Not sure what could be wrong. Lots of new parts on it - control panel, auger motor, wiring harness, photo eye, etc. Stove will run fine for days then go through a period where it faults a lot. Any ideas?

My profile 20 does the same thing and i have had it for 7 years, i could'nt find any straight forward answer either. It goes in spurts, it hasn't done it in a while tho. If you find the problem let me know.

Thx Cliff

It just occured to me that when i clean and vaccum in out i stick the vac nozzle up the chute to make sure the slot that the photo eye sees thru is clear. That seem to help

Thanks Cliff. I do clean up toward the photo eye when I clean the stove. I may pull the photo eye to see how dirty it is. I know that could make the stove shut down but I don't think it can make it fault.

Have had this happen to a customer and checked the photo eye and found that the glass was dirty and the lens had fallen down causing dust to cover the eye not allowing the eye to see the flame.

I used to have a similar problem with the pressure sensor hose that connects to the exhaust manifold. Try disconnecting it to test and then clean/ blow it out.

Hello new user here. I am also having this exact problem. Of note my damper seems not to move out farther than an inch and manual says inch and a half.
wondering if decreased O2 intake due to this could be the problem. How hard is it to remove the side panel to look inside? Has anyone done that?
I have cleaned all air intake places and photo eye and lens (does make it better for a bit) No one will come and service my stove that is a professional.

So I picked up a used whitfield 30 ins off Craigslist. The guy who owned it said it sat for 3 years as he used his new petrel furnace. Said he turned it on last week ran for about 10 min then shut off. He tried to restart but turned off again.

Fig 400 was a good deal what could go wrong. After I completely tore it Down cleaned every inch I fired it up and after start up mode it shut down.

After checking on hearth.com the best site out there I tested all sensors and switched and everything looked good. The photo eye seemed to work when I put light to it. Fired it up again and it shut down again so I bye passed the photo eye with a jumper while and she worked like a champ.

After checking the slot the is used for the photo eye I determined that the eye was not deep enough into the shoot. Basically I pulled the sensor half way on its mount. Used a flashlight in the feed shoot and I got a closed circuit on the meter. Put it all back and bam she's making heat.

So why all this well I read several posts that people made regards to the tested all the components and it still doesn't work. Some people say go buy a control board for 380$ which is crazy.

When these stoves go into start up mode most of the sensors are over written until it is running .

So for all the people on here testing a sensor on the bench is good but if its on the unit you might get a different reading.

Anyone with questions feel free to pm me and I can assist further.
