Who wants "Clear Glass" ?

Ok , I see lots of posts from folk's who can't keep their glass clean . I have a small glass on my BIG E , so mine is dirty all the time. I don't personally care about dirty glass , as I get nothing from being able to see the flames, I just want heat .

So how important is it for your stove to have clear glass ???

Looks nicer with clean glass. I clean mine when I clean the burnpot. Wipe with paper towel gets most then spray glass cleaner on paper towel looks like new when done. Of course my Breckwell insert has more glass then a little window. It stays cleaner longer with damper opened more.

I don't think it matters at all if it is clean or not. Just personal preference. I usually only clean mine when I do a once a week shutdown for a thorough cleaning. The color of the soot on the glass can also be an indicator of how your fire is actually burning.

I like clean glass, I clean mine every time I vac the stove.. about every other day.

Clear glass VERY IMPORTANT to me..lets me know when I'm low on pellets and lets me see how different pellets or corns burn..mine NEVER gets so dirty as to not see the fire..even after 2 weeks I still have 80% clean glass..plus the flames look DAMN GOOD and relaxing..so clean glass VERY important

I am lucky. The glass on my Accentra insert remains quite clean. Only a slight gray haze in the upper corners after a week of running hard. I clean the box, baffels and glass once a week. I enjoy the fire in my living room.

My stove has a large viewing bay style window. It would seem kind of useless to have all the gold trim and stylish look if I let the glass get ugly. Also, I like being able to glance at my stove and see the fire. I can see how efficient my burn is, how dirty my burn pot is, and how full my ash pan is. But, I am just weird that way with things. I also like hearing my vehicles engine. A mechanic can tell a lot by the sound of an engine, I can tell a lot by the view of my fire burning. Like...I can tell I am bored and crazy - lol.

if I'm not mistaken the cleaner the glass the better the 'radiant heat' from it. Not a great deal bbut its all heat

Being able to see the fire is a great help to troubleshoot ignition and combustion problems. You never know when they rear their ugly heads.

Like being able to see the fire. I have one of those bay windows, (3 sides). Seeing the fire and the burn pot gives me a good clue how soon I will cleaning again. Having it where I can almost always see it helps me be motivated to get to my cleaning instead of out of sight, out of mind.

Warmth of the stove and the glow of the fire, a good book, something warm to drink, and maybe someone to share it all with. Doesn't get much better!

I clean it just about every day. Wish the air wash worked better, but it doesn't. It's an easy fix.

I also have the bay style 3 pane window in mine and I like being able to see what's going on in there. I can tell at a glance exactly how things are running and what needs to be done. If I ouldn't see in I'd be at a total loss all the time.

I give it a dry wipe daily. Takes about 10 seconds.
Prolly wouldn't give two craps if the stove weren't the first thing
to be seen when you walk in my front door.

i try to keep mine clean. englander's airwash seems to be pretty ineffective though. when the stove is on the lwer settings the hot glass cleans fine with a damp paper towel once a day. When it is real cold, and the stove is set on inferno, it hazes up with gray/white stuff that won't come off till the stove cools down. then it just wipes off with the same damp paper towel.
