Gotta get away from my pellet stove group on FB...that place is a total dumpster fire. I haven't posted here is years...wondering who's still here from the old crew...who are the New Kids on the Block?

....and just so I keep the post about pellet stoves....I picked up a Ravelli Roma in town for $300.00 Figured I'd document the restoration of that. Looks like it had a hopper fire and the last guy to work on it pulled it out with the harness attached and did a fair amount of damage.

agree about facebook. I am on a couple groups including harman group and people who have just got new stoves are giving out insane info to other newbies. I stopped correcting everyone long time ago. 13 yrs burning 24/7 so i do know a few things.
my favorites are things like buying a analog dial type is best if u dont want to run into exra issues like having to update firmware or touchscreen not working right etc.. get told that us old farts need to get with the digital times... I love so many things digital like the electronics in my new car, sound system and tv stuff etc plus I am the family fixer for computers and phones but when it come to my stove I have a harman P61A and if had to buy again would not hesitate to stay with analog dial models... easy to work on and replace any components... my 2 cents anyways.. new stove buyers are told touchscreen is the latest greatest so no one does the research about both types.

I was on the FB Pelletstove group for about 2wks…things like drilling out the holes in a firepot for more air(causes huge problems down the road) was enough for me haha
Been involved in Pelletstoves since 1997 and here since 2011. Restored quite a few harmans.
Welcome back and I’d love to see pics of your resto

It was on FB?:rolleyes:

Welcome back - I'm a new guy. I installed had a P43 installed in the basement last Feb 2025. You will see me posting and helping quite a bit. I used to be an industrial electrical tech type, and retired now and it keeps my mind working :)

Welcome back! I haven't joined any FB pellet stove pages. I have thought about joining Harman groups, but haven't as the regular forums I belong to are pretty active (and I like the people and there are varied topic sections).

Unfortunately, I think it is the nature of the beast where new people on any FB page give some, let's say, less than accurate information/advice. I've found that to be true on solar and power station FB pages. And then some of the old timers are just downright unhelpful to new members who are looking for info. My non-favorites are:
  • "Do your own research" (dude, I thought that is what they are trying to do);
  • "That's been asked before so use the search" (the search functions on FB are not that great and if a newbie doesn't know the search terms they need - then it becomes impossible);
  • "Well, mine never does that" (good for you, the OP isn't asking about your equipment) etc.

Welcome home SW I’m a new guy also🤪. Looked at a few of the FB stove pg’s learned to avoid like the plague😂. Glad your back and good things to come 👍
