OK, I know I am a wood burning nerd, but I am kind of proud of my chimney caps after an entire winter, no cleaning (which I usually do once in the middle of the winter and once at the end) First, the old Buck "smoke dragon"

Now, the new little EPA Hampton

Not to bad huh?

Ok, so I have wood burning withdrawal boredom ;)

Good job. They are both still there. :)

Edit: Why isn't there a top plate for Bubba Buck?

It is a triple wall metal fire place flue, s/s lined and the top plate is down inside the fake tile.
Edit: You can see the fake metal chimney in the back round of the second pic.

Yeah at first I thought it was clay until I looked closer. I just wondered how rain and snow didn't accumulate in it and cool the pipe. Just learning ya know?

Yeah, BB just learning, right. When I installed the s/s liner, I was going to put the top plate on top of the fake tile, but the top of the fake brick worked much better and was a much better weather flashing. Then I just attached the fake tile on top of that.

Edit: It is an old Majestic pre-fab fire place and triple wall flue, stainless steel 8 in inner wall pipe, lined with a 7 in s/s liner, connected directly to the old buck. Of course the old buck had no rating for an install in a pre-fab fire place back then (1982), but the fireplace is installed surrounded by a dry wall corner with 100% brick front and the triple wall flue that is clear of all combustibles all the way to the roof by 18 in or more. It does not get as hot as my new Class A flue and I have access to it from top to bottom. Back when I did this in 1982 I was treading in un-chartered waters, but after monitoring it closely for the first year, and 30 years of burning it, I am very comfortable with it. Insurance company likes it too.;)

I hear ya Chief. 21 years with the big Sierra heating this joint with a slammer installation. Unlined. Didn't know when they started making liners till I found this place. ;em You were years ahead of me in the not burning down the joint department.

I haven't mess with mine since the stove got installed. Dunno if that is good or bad... I can't see it from the living room couch, so it's all good... right? right? :p

Oh, you misunderstood. In 1982 it was a slammer too. That is how the manual said to do it. Only in recent years did I install the liner and connect it directly.......what a huge improvement that was.

Good to see that you are even up on the roof!

Ya, what the heck are you doing up on the roof Steve?!! With your predicament, that should be a no-no. Nice pictures though and glad to see the clean cap.
