I have a Beckett oil burner and recently replaced parts.

The wiring makes no sense. The power has 2 black wires. All wires are matched to where they should go, I believe. That being said, the motor won't engage. Everything worked up until parts had to be replaced.

If someone could verify the wiring or show the correct way, it would be appreciated. Some forums offer other colors that don't exist here. (Green, violet, copper)

There should be a schematic for this unit. That is the guiding document.

The unattached wire may be the neutral. This should be verified with a multimeter. If it is, then normally it would join with the white wires. Verify with the schematic.

I've been connecting without a meter and everything seems correct. The unattached wire is the other power wire. It's plugged into an outlet. This is all outside of my wheelhouse.

I had a guy in and he was just connecting wires. He ended up putting 120v through a low voltage system and I ended up getting a new furnace.

Is there a decal attached somewhere with the wiring diagram?
