A CBC news story from the late 70's. I remember this clearly. Price of oil was going through the roof and east coasters couldn't afford to heat their houses. When they complained, the retort from Alberta was ''Let them freeze in the dark!"

I found my father's oil records from 80 and 81. He was using over 1000 gallons a year to heat a house that was under 900 sq ft. He put a coal stove in, and a little insulation in the ceiling. He always said the insulation made a huge difference.
