We have an old 1800's home that uses an old water boiler furnace. There is a wood stove that the pipes have been run through to help with heating the water. We decided last year to use the stove to help heating cost. it seemed to be working until the terrible smell of soot started. it did not start until the fire was out. Now even in the summer if the wind is right we get the smell. I cleaned the stove, finding several inches of dried creosote(?). if we replace the firebrick do you think this smell will go away? also the firebrick is behind the piping inside the stove, how will I get the brick out and back in? PLEASE HELP!
