I'm stumped. I have a wood app and nothing showed up that I even recall. It may be black birch? Doesn't smell like any wood I've split before even white birch.

Black birch looks like a good guess. I've never cut it.

That looks like branch wood and therefore looks like yellow birch to me. Great firewood either way

The color seems off in the pic but it certainly looks like a birch, if you smell the wintergreen you got it, the only other wood that looks like that is pin cherry.
