I know for sure the second is maple. Cherry on the inside is pink this one is not

Beech, maybe Box Elder for the tan color one, could you show a picture of the grain on the split you are holding, that would help...the one with the darker bark not the grey Beech.

This is the same one, when I took it. It just got rained on.

It has that red bark rim that you can see when you hold it sideways, and the light colored grain. I could be wrong but I would believe that's it, not bad fuelwood.

I still stand by my idea of Red Maple, looks like it to me!

It's somewhat similar to Silver Maple, a hardwood but a bit "softer" but they both burn nicely; not as many BTU'S as Sugar Maple but they burn nice and are usually easy to split.

Another vote for red maple, it looks a lot like the one I cut down 2yrs ago, and burned part of this past winter.
