Question:

how do the pellet stoves compare with the regular wood burning stoves? We have allergy problems. Would a pellet stove be the solution?

Answer:

A pellet stove may not help much if your sensitivity is to wood and ash by-products. You still have to pour the pellets in (creating a bit of dust) and remove the ash (same). However, if you get one with an electric starter, you are likely to avoid much of the possible smoke spillage, which might usually occur on startup.

So, it depends on how sensitive you are. It will be better than most wood stoves...but not as good as a vented gas stove.
