I am in the middle of having a certified HVAC company install all new ductwork, NG furnace, and central air. He is also tying in my Energy King 480 wood/coal furnace for me. He has already installed a manual “slide in / out” block off above the a-coil and a manual damper in the 18x8 duct that leads from the wood furnace to the NG furnace. Although I do greatly appreciate it, I was wanting something that was automatic.
I`m thinking that I would install this http://www.zoro.com/dayton-backdraft-damper-verthoriz-mtg-19-34sq-3hhl6/i/G0541581/?q=3hhl6 in the NG furnace plenum above the a-coil and another one in the 18x8 duct, but I can`t find an 18x8 damper that isn`t motorized. Anyone know where I can find one?
Is it possible to install a motorized damper in the duct that goes from the wood furnace to the NG furnace so that it closes when the NG furnace kicks on and opens when it quits running? This would allow for “safety” when the wood furnace is running in the fact that the heat would always be able to flow in case the power goes out.
