I burn a lot of Black Walnut. I think it is pretty good firewood and I still go after it even though I am way ahead on scrounging.
I'll put a couple of Cherry splits on the front/top of a load, and it puts off floating flames for a couple hours. I like it.
Never burned Walnut and, based on these responses, probably never will.
Lots of ash....Your not kidding!I've burned it before but no longer go out of my way for it.(have actually passed some recently) Personally I feel cherry and soft maple(silver/red) perform way better for me. My biggest complaint is all the ash that is left behind.
Where is my latch?
Lots of ash....Your not kidding!
I work in the firearms industry and as you may have seen on the news....... things are a bit crazy at the moment but I will get you one.....
Sure if You can wait 180 days.......Can you get me an AR-15? J/K we don't want this thread to turn into an ash can thread.
After 4 1/2 years The stuff is dry, sounds like a baseball bat.....But it doesnt burn anywhere near as good as Cherry....Walnut has to be dry, Like 3 years oak dry. Then it burns like cherry
