Well, almost!! With the super warm weekend we had, I let the fire go the whole way down both Saturday and Sunday ......but rekindled it each evening with a couple of splits. Yesterday morning, I threw on a couple small splits of ash and told my wife to let it go out.......reluctantly. But I figured I may as well consider starting our spring shoulder season (nightly or bi-nightly fires). We've had a continuous fire since late October in the 1900p, so technically this would be our second fire. But to my surprise, when I came home from work, there was still a handful of hot coals in the stove, and she was complaining how "cold" the house was (for Pete's sake it was down to a bone-chilling 69° in the house!). So I got some pine kindling and restarted it to keep her happy. So I'm STILL on my winter burn, after all!! With temps dropping again for at least the remainder of the week or longer, looks like the stove will still be working 24/7 for a while longer.

I let both stoves go out on Monday morning, and re-lit from a few scattered glowing embers Monday night. This morning, one stove was reloaded, and the other allowed to go out. Maybe I'll finally get to use one or two of those 100 SuperCedars I bought last summer!

Other than one shut down for a vacation, both stoves have been running 24/7 since January.

Joful, I think those SC's are gonna' come in real handy shortly.;)
I've already started using more of my homemade batch. Need more soon.
I've been using my homemade fatwood starters in the NZ3000 all winter.....they make it a one-match affair!!

Scotty, 69° is bone chillin' when you've gotten used to the 75°+ of a wood fire. Was just saying on another thread that its 51° outside and I lit a fire to take the chill out. The house was at 68°

No doubt about it, Al! We've grown accustomed to the warm temps in the house. But I had 4 windows opened up the whole way on Sunday night upstairs because it got a bit TOO warm! ;lol

I hear you on that. I'Il do one burn now and then another before going to bed. Some days you just gotta have heat. Going to dip down overnight the next few nights. Back to the long burns in the evening.

We've been burning the pellet stove the last few nights, we'll start burning in the Lopi Liberty again tonight.

I covered some two year old Hemlock & Pine about three weeks ago, I'm hoping we can burn that this spring if needed.

Watch for the storm for the middle of next week then another one coming in the last week of March.

I sure would like to get at least ONE use out of my new snowblower this year. Hell, the warranty will expire before I get to use it the first time!

I'm with you there Scotty...seems like anything below 70 deg in the house is FREEZING. Anyway it's been shoulder season here for the last month. In the 60s during the day, might get down in the 40s at night. Only been buring at night and really just the punky/oddball chunks from the shed. Keep up the great work!

With daffodils blooming and grass a growing we're definitely into shoulder season burning. Kind of a pain. I started a fire last night, it was 45F and blustery. This morning I restoked the stove before coffee and before putting on my glasses. When I sat down at the computer I saw it was 51F outside, 54 now and rising. Oh well.

It sure has started here. Haven't had a 24/7 fire since winter storm Saturn. Been starting a fire in the evening with house temps around 70 which feels like 20 below for me, run 2, 3 split loads with the air half open getting the house between 80 and 90 then letting it go out then repeat the next evening. Just glad I got a stove that I can get a fire started in very easily

This is the "tease" season.

For sure - temps climbed just above freezing this weekend - turned the end of my long camp driveway into punk. This is the downside of having 4WD but no snowblower out there - and driving over each fresh snowfall to pack it down. I've been getting away with it for years, but not this time around. Now it's a mess and will probably be that way until spring. Forecast for the weekend is -16C with flurries off and on for the next 7 to 10 days. Old man winter is being a real sh$t this year....

If I lived within a hundred miles of you I'd probably be making you an offer.... ;lol

Concur - I have been on a one hot fire a day for a week but it got cold again and plans to stay that way for 48hrs or so and I am back on the non-stop fire train. Just not as much wood going in onto the coals.

For sure I was happy to see the snow and ice disappear. We have only a few patches of snow left other than where snow was pushed. However, it has been snowing off and on this afternoon. Nothing great but enough to remind you that winter is not over with yet. I filled the wood rack on the porch this afternoon and even had to cover my ears as they got cold. Over the weekend and yesterday we got lots of rain so naturally there are flood warnings in many areas. Our creek is really high too. I had thought about going back by the creek to see how bad things look but decided against it. Came in where it is warm instead.

We still have a good couple feet of snow on the ground here in upper Michigan, and the highest it has been in the last week was in the mid 30's during the day. Half a foot more of snow to fall tonight. Last year I was on pasture in March. This year doesn't look so good.

Yeah same here. I think this year we may be back to the days of finding some snow covered spots on the back roads on the May long weekend, like we used to see on fishing trips. Snow banks at camp road are @ 4' even after the recent warmer spell. We got a bit more winter staring us down.

I think I'm done. 80's in the forecast for tomorrow. Weather changes quick here, I'll be turning on the AC soon enough. It has been in the mid 70's, to mid 40's at night. Warm days warms the house and the heat stays in a while. I know what you mean about 70 feeling chilly after a winter of burning and getting used to a warm house in the mid to upper 70's, it feels a bit chilly to me to. I'm on my second lawn mow of the season, last mow being 3 weeks ago after no mowing since November.

It's northern CA, they like forms of intoxication associated with burning and baking up there. ==c

Finally got the whole house up to a nice 70! Been using the Hampton HI300 insert 24/7 since mid December and have not been able to do that before. And now I go 6 hrs between reloads during the day. Also able to turn the blower to 'low' now.

Ditto... been running both stoves PLUS the boiler 24/7 all winter, and the last two weeks is the first time I've been able to keep house temps above 68 without turning on the boiler.
