Hello all. After my first year burning on my large flush wood insert from Travis industries I have a few questions. I burned about four cords some was season under 20% some was a little bit over 20% moisture content. I went to clean out the stove today because I'm going to get a chimney cleaning this weekend and noticed this on the baffle. Does this cause any harm to the stove? I have never over fire the stove and always cover stovetop under 600° to be sure I wouldn't over fire I have been extremely cautious. Thank you for all of your help and input!

Its kind of hard to see. The flash makes these stove look gold Lol. It is the right corner it goes up abut 1 inch on the right and the left side is flush with the last tube on the far left. As it goes to the right it rises about 1 inch.

Is this a Hybrid insert?

I dont know what that is so I assume not haha .It is a large flush wood insert by Travis industries. On the bottom right I'd the surround it says fire extrodinare.

It is a cat system steel wood stove .Purchased it last year from a dealer about 15 minutes from me. I loved it last year so I figured I'd get it checked out before the new burning season. Thanks!

If its that new, have the dealer come and check out your concerns.

s this a Hybrid insert?
Yes , it is hybrid .
I have exact same insert, exact same age (1 year ), exact same warped baffle. I live in exact same state LOL.

I've posted before about this problem. Majority of folks here said it has to be fixed. When I called the dealer (Deans stove and spa), Girl with pretty voice read me prompt from travis ind that it should be removed , hammered back to original form and installed back. End of story. In manual they have instruction how to remove it, so I think it's common case.

They make it in both hybrid and non-cat, that's why I asked.

Thank you for your response. What does a Hybrid entail? I had no idea and I did extensive research on the stove. I have no idea on how to take it our and hammer it back. I am going to call them this afternoon and see what they can do. It is a brand new stove and I have not had any problems until I noticed this. We never overfired and I always checked temps and it rarely exceeded 600 degrees. How are you going to proceed with yours? From pictures only, it's hard to see, but it doesnt look like mine is up as high as yours.

Thanks!

you have secondary reburn and cat - best of both types of stoves on the market today.

Yeah I definitely have both on my stove...I just thought that was a Cat stove...thanks!

The dealer said since I've installed the insert myself they gonna charge me if someone goes to my house and removes it to fix it . But if I want , I can get it out , bring to the store and they will hammer it back to original shape for free since it's still under warranty .I'll probably just remove it and do it myself , it's 30 min one way drive for me. I think I fix it better then some salesmen /"specialist " in a back of the store .

Interesting. I had them install it so maybe that will change things. I also got it from Deans, I just have no idea what to do and I paid a ton of money for it so I don't want to mess it up. I will let you know how it goes.

Please, keep me posted . This thing is expensive , I feel your pain. I was happy with it performance , though . I hope it lasts .

I will....I was extremely happy. I used it all winter and did not use oil, it was great.

That's not cool, the stove is under warranty regardless of who installed it.

How has your cat held up?

The cat looks great. Just some fly ash on it. I was told by them once a year to take it out, put it on the grill over high hear on some tin foil, and take a small paint bristle brush and brush off any ash on it. I haven't done that yet because I have no needed to.

I would also think if it's under warranty it should be covered. That's strange.

I know , it doesn't seem right , but since they not gonna replace it anyway I'm not gonna fight it.

My cat looks ok too , at least from outside . I know there is some controversy with flame going straight to the cat and ruining it . When I'm gonna do baffle fix I'll pull it out and look closer .

I just called. Someone is going to call me back later today or this afternoon and schedule an appointment. Will update then.

A good way to wave a flag at Lopi is for them to have a constant expense showing up at dealers for this issue. Bringing it back to the dealer to hammer out puts the problem on their service record.

Is this a big problem? Should this be happening after only 1 year of use with the stove? I dont even know how to take it out so I feel like thats not an option for me. I paid a lot of money and I dont want to tinker around with it and do more damage. Thanks for the help!
