RyanStorm. What you or the certified sweep needs to do is verify that the outside chimney is class A pipe. No additional liner needed if the existing galvanized chimney is class A piping. It should be stainless on the interior liner.

Do you have the required 2" of clearance from the outside of the masonry to any combustible material? If not then yes insulation is required. The requirement is about safety not performance. I don't know about code in Canada so i cant say for sure but in the us in your case it would be required. And i am pretty sure that it is required in canada as well

WHat you have is totally different than what the poster is referring to you have a class a chimney i am sure the inside is stainless
Yes, I have 2+ inches of clearance the whole length of the chimney

On the bottom of my Tee piece, I looked up into it, and that outer part as seen in my previous picture, that is an outer wall.

If you look at my picture posted here, that flat bottom is the bottom of the pipe where I can look up into it, but if you look, between outside edge, and inner pipe, there is a layer in the middle, which to me, says this is probably insulated.

That round bottom is the width of pipe the smoke goes in, I know cause I took that off and put a flash light up there, so mine has 3 layers of steel.
