Nice stove and fire. Not sure exactly on the Island you are, but there are some local shops that have some quality brands but are expensive. Bravo window is one. They have Oakies, but for 7.20 a bag.

Another place has Infernos which are bad but in a pinch I use them.

Other than that, Lowes in Medford right now has Green Supremes for 5.47 a bag, which is a good pellet in my experience.

Thats all i know of from experience. Other members know of more spots, so hopefully they will chime in.

Good luck.

thanks for the comment on the stove and i went to Bravo's i went to the lowes by me and they had cheat river and want to return them they had no heat and alot of ash this is my first year with the stove too so i am not sure how many I am going to use i have been going through a bag a day now but i shut it off at night around 11 and turn it back on at 6 am

I have a small ranch, 1200 sq feet with moderate insulation and some crappy windows, and I use about 4 tons a year, from later Sept. to late May. About $1200 with all costs added. but I get a warm house, 70 degrees plus most of the time.

I get the bulk of my stash in Spring from Woodpellets.com. Then I hunt around, like every one else here. Though i haven't caught the pig fever yet. Don't let it get you.

Symptoms might be excessive time spent thinking and planning the purchase of pellets; driving distances to try new pellet brands, and finally, coming here and bragging about how many tons you have stashed away.

SEEMS LIKE its tough to get good quality at a good price around here, everyone gives me the same "island is more expensive" bs, maybe we can get a few people to buy a truck and dispurse on a day in summer, we can all agree, like hamers barefoots, okans, cubex or even green team, i hate going to the box stores or paying 7 a bag for good stuff, i spoke to green team already and they will do something in summer, if price is right i can take 4 pallets just need 20 more, there are plenty of long islanders out there, any suggestions

Just installed a stove on 31 December.
Lowes Hicksville had Lignetics brand last week.
I do not know if they still have any.
I bought 25 bags to get started and they seem OK.
We have only burned about six bags so far

Gold Coast Lumber in Plainview has Barefoot. They are at a premium though..Long Island Pellet Supply... is another high is price but offer a good quality pellet.

Pete,

I could probably take two pallets.
I will talk my sister into two pallets in Farmingdale also.
I plan on building a shed that should handle up to four pallets, maybe more.
If the brand and price is right, I will take four pallets just to fill the shed up.

Bill

i agree we should get together and buy a truck load to get it cheap. the hard part will be what brand to buy
