I exhibited at a home show last weekend and was surprised of how few people showed an interest in fireplaces?

Spring is almost here. Probably have better luck in the fall.

I do construction. I could spend $500.00 advertising roofing and siding in january and be lucky to get a call. Kinda like
trying to sell a boat in the fall.

Unfortunately, fireplaces are hugely inefficient and polluting. In today's world, people want heat and lower fuel bills. Romance is and always was, for the backseat. ;-)

Too warm of a winter and natural gas is going down. Just a thought.

My GMC Suburban is hugely inefficient and pollutes and I do not associate romance with it at all. I know plenty of people who like the whole process of enjoying a wood fire in their fireplaces. In today's world people who have money want to enjoy time with family and friends in front of a beautiful fire. A well designed grate makes these fires easy to start, less stoking, less polluting, and more efficient.

I have a woodstove and a fireplace. I've had maybe 3 fires in the fireplace in three years. I'd much rather toss my wood in the stove then waste it in the fireplace. Not even a fire in the fireplace this year.
