I assume you all realize that the president, no matter who he or she may be, has little short-term control over the price of any energy product in this nation? With regard to oil and it's off shoot products, currently its price is rising due to mostly speculation and the latest pissing match with a middle eastern nation that controls the body of water where in a very large percentage of the worlds crude oil travels through on a daily basis.

Normally that is true; however, the new wells that are now producing the extra oil that Big O took credit for are actually wells permitted under Bush's watch. Those wells have a limited lifetime of, I believe, 3-5 years. Big O has done NOTHING to set in motion the replacement of wells that will be drying up. Instead, he has through his edicts and his EPA effectively killed new Gulf exploration and drilling, killed for 5 years (after his hoped-for second term) Atlantic off-shore drilling, killed Anwar, killed drilling/permitting in the northern states. So as wells dry up, nothing will be there to replace them, which is their strategy to force us to alternative energy or to his Muslim buddies in the MidEast. Not buying it. He has gotten in the way. An obstructionist by nature, he wants us to have the same failings as Europe. Any achievements you may gain, he was you to give "your fair share" to those who have made no attempt.

What scares me is a lot of people still think this guy is good for us. And what does he have for competition?

That, in a nutshell, is the problem! When the majority of the people are on the government's teat, what incentive do they have to let go? They have become comfortable and don't realize that they could live so much better lives if they actually worked and earned their keep.

Wow...I don't dare chime in. I got stomped on for bringing in politics in another thread on a discussion just like this one on the price of oil.

I know! Me thinks this one will be frozen very soon! Oh well, back to stoves and stuff! Gotta go put grout sealer on my tile so I can position my cook stove one last time. Got my Dwyer meter to measure draft and now I can begin to play and cook! AND post those often-demanded pictures.
