Hey all,
hope everyone on the east coast is safe this weekend with the possible high winds and heavy rains. In preparation for power loss I have brought in plenty of wood into the house as we may loose power due to down power lines. I have about a week's worth of wood next to the stove. Be save everyone.

Gentlemen (and ladies) get your gensets ready.

No genset here, but *knock on wood,* my power will hold. It is usually pretty solid and I hardly lost power during the snowmagheddon (~24 hours) and not at all during the derecho. We shall see. I live close to a substation, so that helps I think.

The storm should make for some good wood scrounging :)

We lose power a lot in our neck of the woods so if we do get hit with any kind of heavy wind and rain I'm sure we'll lose it. I just spent a couple hours fixing my underground gutter downspout, it's been clogged and I've been getting water in the cellar with heavy rains so I figured I better fix it before Monday! Be safe all......

My stove goes in monday....we might be using it sooner than expected.. We have plenty of lanterns and stoves (coleman collector) so cooking and lighting is all set too. Only thing is the freezer and the fridge..generator next...hehehe

Im ready for it but hope the wet snow dont happen be safe all.

Broke down and bought a used Honda generator from what turned out to be an old high school buddy from 1973. Small world. EM 4000 model. Going to change the oil , add some new Amsoil and some new fuel with Sea Foam. Make sure she's good to go for next week. Was at Lowes today, a friend that works there said people were lined up out side at 4 am this morning trying to buy generators right off the truck before they made the store floor. None to be found today.

Almost to a year, halloween storm of 2011 took out a lot of trees in our area still laden with their leaves. Too much with the snow and trees split in half or just uprooted. Hope not a repeat this year

People who want a Generator should be able to pick one up after this storm goes thru...alot of people will buy one just for the storm and then take it back.

That is funny how that always seems to happen. Folks just wait too long. I remember a relative going 150 miles to buy a generator once when we had some electrical problems. Even then he paid a high price. He could have saved a couple hundred bucks if he had only been prepared earlier.

Hope that Honda proves to be a good buy. When you stated it was an old high school buddy it reminded me when we sold our motor home....to an old high school friend.

I've got a wood stove, solar panels, and plenty of food in the basement. if we get the snow here in wv im ready.
If you get any snow be sure to send some this way please:)

I don't mind losing the power, as long as we have heat I'm good. Lots of lanterns and candles around, the thing that gets me is when it's really cold, the whole neighborhood wants to hang out at our house during an outage.........lol...
Careful with those candles ,they start a lot of fires in power outages. I have a LED lantern and several LED flashlights with Big LI-ion batteries, probably go for days on a charge. Just got my water powered sump pump from amazon. In case the lights go out.

My generator is down, carb all gummed up from not using it. Next one is a propane unit for sure.

Prep day. Fill up the cars, put away the outdoor furniture etc, change oil in the generator then commence with the Post Road Pumpkin Spice. Even managed to get a small score of oak. Now we wait. Starting to sound like landfall will be south Jersey and Delaware. Be safe everyone.

PS Everyone knows that Sandy isn't a Hurricane name! Sandy is a Puppy name!

Stupid weatherman!
