Just picked up a ton of Stove Chow, which made a short appearance here last year. Really liked them a lot with very good heat out of my Castille. Anyone burning them now and are they up to last year's quality?
A little more ash than fireside ultra heat about equal. The chow usually burns hot for me.Yeah I have 15 bags left of the chows, and I can't complain they are doing the job.....
Just got my 3 tons delivered this morning from Home Depot. Bought a test bag earlier in the week before I pulled the trigger on the big delivery. It was 18 degrees and the house was in the mid 70s throughout. Very happy with them and I've tried quite a few brands. I did have two broken bags. Also some leftovers from last year's ton of EasyBlaze.
unless there the same exact mostly softwood as the Ultra's are, they are not as good!!
Does any one know why i scanned a bag of stove chow at a HD today and it came back, A product of Catamount Pellet Fuel Corp. I thought they where Energex?
Yup. Catamount went under and parted out their business. The trademark/brand went to Energex. I know parts of the plant(dryer, etc) went to NEWP.Energex acquired the trademark Stove Chow from Catamount in 2003, per

According to the BBB and US DOT, it looks like Catamount is out of business

Back in the late 90's early 2000's all i burned was Chow made in North Adams mass, so you guys think Chow is as Hot as FSU?
Just went through my first 10 bags of Stove Chow and I would rather burn FSU.Back in the late 90's early 2000's all i burned was Chow made in North Adams mass, so you guys think Chow is as Hot as FSU?
Me too. I like the chow, but fsu not as dirty. Just pulled the trigger on 4 tons of fsu. Hope that's what shows up!Just went through my first 10 bags of Stove Chow and I would rather burn FSU.
Sounds just like last year when i burned both, FSU beat it for better heat and lower ash!!
FSU are like Oakie's this year, like high octane rocket fuel, that guy from Okanagan used to say here before he got banned a few years ago
