Wondering if anyone has made their own handle for lifting the grittle. Even with gloves that little tab gets very hot.

The tab on my stove does not have a hole in it. I searched VC parts thinking they would have offered something. Possibly something like the old time bottle cap opener would work. For now I got a heavier pair of gloves.

It's possible that the handle broke off and someone carefully ground down the remainder until it was flush.
According to all photos I have seen there was never an actual handle. There is just a little tab that sticks out.
I have the same stove with just a small tab off the griddle. It was clearly an engineering oversight but I just ended up removing the wood handle from a paint brush and it has worked fine for years. No gloves needed, just a steady hand.

So you attached the wooden paint brush handle to the cast iron griddle tab? How? Didn't it eventually smolder when you ran it hot?
No, sorry I was not clear in my post. I did not attach it to the stove. I use it as a lever to place under the tab and lift the griddle so I don't have to put gloves on every time I load up.
