Used my splitter to break the tire bead on a tractor tire. Nice to have 100,000 lbs of force when you need it.

Great idea!

I don't have a splitter, but that's genius. I change my own motorcycle tires, and I use my SUV and a wedge. I use my jack to lift it, then let the weight of the SUV bring the wedge down. It works... But an extra 20+ tons would be better!

I've used the splitter to break beads on garden tractor and lawn buggy tires. Works well with a large wooden block; don't want the wedge in contact with anything.

Be careful not to bend the rim. ;)

gzecc,........i'm with ya......have done that in the past on car & trailer tires. I just had an issue with a tractor tire and wondering how you go about getting them to seat again? I tried to do it on the tractor using comealong & chain.....then 2........couldnt get it to spread enough to grab....150 psi...... got any tricks ?.......rn

I put in 75% pressure than put it back on the tractor. Rolled around a little and hit it the tread with a mini sledge hammer in areas where it needed to move. I also used soap on the bead.

My Unimog has huge all terrain tires. The closest shop that can handle them is about 45 minutes away. I had to reseal two tires and used the starting fluid method. There are many you tube videos on this method. It is potentially dangerous but worked for me. It took a few tries as the tire will pop onto the bead and seal itself, then the gases will cool and pop off. So you need to be quick to inflate the tire before it pops off.

The recommended method is a compressed air bead sealer. I haven't used one but I expect its lot safer than the starting fluid method.

a lot of tire soap( safest imo), a cheetah(whoooomp), ether(put alittle more whoomp in your whooooomp) or a 2" strap around the perimeter of the tire. you either gotta run real fast when she seats, get the air off real fast or loosen the strap in the blink of an eye. I've done all the above on 11 24.5's up through 1400 24's and if you got a split rim make sure you chain it
