well i have been envious of you who have started burning, and actually was going to..BUT THE WIFE said no.. hold out!!!!
so as of today i just look at my summit and go look at the wood pile...
but the longer i wait the more seasoning the wood can do!!
she did turn on the matt pad warmer though:)))))
ps i am near springfield mass
please tell where you are

A little chill chaser is burning in the Jotul in the office right now. I am a wimp and my old feet were cold on this concrete floor. :)

Besides, burning now is fun. In three more months it will be a daily pain in the ass.

hang in there ,you;ll get er burning soon.ive had a fire going for about 3 weeks loveing it in N.D. ZZZim

It was 80+ in Baltimore today. Neighbor's A/C is still running. Stove is apart and waiting on parts (I know, I should have ordered it in the spring). We have turned on some heat pump as the mornings have been dipping into the low 40s. At this rate, I may not light it until December, but once it's lit, it's on for the winter!

That's cheating. Your heat pump still works.

I haven't started yet. I'm in the Northeast corner of PA and we have had some mild weather. Looks like the warm weather is declining by the end of the week but still in the 40's at night. I have a radiant system that I did fire up but it really hasn't done much as of yet. I'd like to fire up the stove but like you said, just more seasoning time and a few weeks more wood at the end of the season.

Had to kick on the AC for a moment Sunday night. But it's turned off cooler this week. Something always seems weird having a roaring fire and green leaves on the trees, so hopefully I can hold out a little longer. Mid January would be nice, but I don't think I'd get that lucky!

Mid 80s today in Tennessee..........that will change soon though.

I have already used a small 110 heater a couple times on low just to knock the chill off a few weeks back..........weird weather again.

So true...........

still havnt needed a fire at all...84 here today in central OH. i dont like heat...ive got next years wood to get working on. Bring on the cold mother nature

I am in the same climate conditions as Cozy Heat. I have burned my new stove 3 times but none of them were really needed.

I figure by the end of the month that will all change.

Believe or not I didn't make it to Nov. 1st (which has been my start date the last several years whether stove or fireplace). We had a 2 day 'cold' spell here and I actually fired the stove Saturday morning to take the chill off (62 in the house and didn't want to turn on the furnace). All I did was the top-down method and let that burn.

Today, 81 degrees and I am probably not burning until Nov.

Well, my excuse is that it's new and we had to try it! So we've been burning quite a bit the past couple of weeks. It did get down into the 30s for a couple of nights, so we did have a reason to burn those two nights...

Haven't burn yet. Lowest house temp 69. 2 warm wife's cooking
warms house. south jersey

We had a couple chill chasers and then a day or two of burning when it got below 50. But for the most part the heat pump is carrying the load for now. Won't be long now though.

I must be a wuss. The thermo on the wall says 49 deg outside, and 81 inside....the girlfriend LOVES it.

I don't have alot of wood...I think I better knock it off untill it gets really cold. I just love to burn in this thing! It has been getting darn cold here in NW oregon for some reason at night. 49 to me is cold tho...

LMAO!!!!
BB that is so true....... by jan -feb i am looking at the wife to go out and get the wood!!!
never happens though!

We've been burning for about three weeks. We had a short indian summer the last few days but we'll need to get her going again later today. The wife raves about it every single night it's going and likes it in the morning more for the heat than the ambiance. She greatly fears fire but actually placed a split in it one morning. I won't get my hopes up to see firewood coming in from outside though.

Did break-in fires early in Sept. It got down to the upper 20's at night for a few days in late September here in Northern WI... 8

I've been burning off and on for the past 2 weeks, and it appears as if I'll be starting again towards the end of this week/weekend. Plattsburgh NY (30 minutes south of the Canadian border, on Lake Champlain)

I've had direct orders from upper management to fire it up on a few occasions but nothing serious. Almost all of my "fall wood" I cut and split is still sitting there which I didn't think was possible. Looking at the forecast we'll prolly have it going in the evening for sure.

No burning yet, since the stove comes next week! I'm all for the warm weather to hold out anyway... the better the weather the less oil I burn in the meantime. Now, if we could cut those showers down to 3 minutes...

My god, it must have nearly froze your ass ( sorry, the footsies ) B². Down to 60 F, huh ? You boy, need to get up and out to buy a pair of sheepskin lined slippers. Don't go to Home Depot. %-P

Ive had a few burns in the house. Dont like to light it up till it get around 45 or less. Seems silly to have a fire and have all the windows open. Looks like mid week might produce some chilly temps here in Mich
