I have a new Englander model 13-NC stove that I will be installing in a new construction home. According to the manual ( revised 10/08) the use of double wall stove pipe and the optional heat shields will INCREASE my clearance to combustibles compared to an installation using single wall stove pipe with no heat shields on the stove. ( the specific measurements are stove pipe to wall and back of stove to wall) Is this correct? If so how can it be as I thought both the double wall stove pipe and heat shields would DECREASE my clearance to combustible measurements?
Thanks for whatever light you can shed on my confusion.
John

I think the 2 values for C are reversed in the table, 15.5 without heatshield or double wall and 13" with heatshield and double wall. Al the other values show reduced clearance as one would expect.

Whew! Glad nobody's house burned down over a typo!

Send a PM to Stoveguy2ESW, a forum member here who works for England's Stove Works. His name is Mike Holton, and he is very, very helpful. I seem to recall the 13 being a special case where using double wall actually increased one of the clearances because it drafted so well and burned hot. But that could be my faulty memory.
