Sounds like progress, of a sort. Please let us know if the new blower gets it working again.
 
Not surprised, the blower wasn't coming up to speed.

I had to replace mine because of this and will be replacing the bearing on the ailing one (once I get around to it).

This was the reason I suggested the patch cord test.

ETA: The reason I said to not keep trying it is that a failing motor attached to a triac can lead to triac destruction and these days that usually means control board replacement because they normally don't do board level repairs..
