To fit my stove I need to put a 45 degree flue connector straight away from the top of my Jotul stove, with no vertical pipe, I have heard this is not recommended, do you think this will be okay?

What Jotul? It might be fine. Describe the rest of the flue system after the 45 including overall height.

Some Jotul models have a reversible flue outlet, which provides options you may not have considered, if you didn’t realize it. Perhaps more importantly, if said stoves can work well with the outlet reversed to horizontal, what’s a 45 elbow atop a vertical outlet?
