A little help with forum related abbreviations please.

IR = Infrared, usually talking about the "gun" style thermometers used to get a precise temperature reading

EAB = Emerald Ash Borer, beetle that is killing all the ash trees and resulting in a lot of ash firewood and lumber

YOLO = You Only Live Once, a saying that is popular with the kids these days

WSS= Woodstock Soapstone (a.k.a. The Elves)

NSPS = new source performance standards (EPA jargon)

LHV= low heat value (a way to present efficiency to get stove qualified for a tax credit)

HHV= high heat value (a better way to present efficiency of a wood stove)

FMJ = full metal jacket....oh wrong blog, sorry!

No, your stove is a N/S loader, cigar burn style. E/W is with the splits parallel to the glass and back of the stove.

There is certainly something to be said for first hand accounts, experiences and "been there done that." That's why I'm happy forums like this exist.

CS = supercedar

there is also slang or idiom if you prefer:

"punky" - decomposed or pertrified wood.
"split" - one piece of cut firewood
"widow maker" - loose branch high in a tree
