I think that any humidifier, even one without a fan, would help circulate air. The vapor pressure from the room with the higher moisture content will cause air from that room to diffuse through the house. If you have pressurized air flowing from that room, you get better circulation.

Any humidifier will also help add heat to the house. Water has a heat of vaporization of 540 cal/gram, so for every liter of water that is turned to steam and then condenses, you're getting a little over 2,100 BTU.
