Is it possible to use any manufacturers class-a on a unit? For instance, on a BIS ultima, can you use a chimney from duratech instead of security?

Depends on the unit. Some manuals will specfic only certian types of pipe that are tested with it. Some will specify to use any Class A pipe system in which case the unit was tested just as the unit and not as a system with the pipe.
