Yep.. Buy a few bags before you make a large purchase. I bought a couple ton 3 seasons ago and had 1 ton that had extremely long pellets (2"-3").

But have bought bags from several different places since and they have all been good pellets. They also throw pretty good heat and not a real dirty/ashy pellet.
 
I have good things to say about the AWF pellets, but as mentioned above, buy 2-3 bags to test burn first. I think you'll like 'em.
