Brand new Century S244 here.

I am wondering about the 6 inch steel plate disk from where the hole for the appliance connector was cut. Currently the disk is sitting inside the stove on top of the baffling. Should it be removed/discarded before use?
 
Is there an insulation blanket on top of the baffle? If so that plate might be there as a weight to keep the blanket from getting sucked up onto the flue opening
