Attaching Micore Questions

I've got my 2 layers of micore cut and fit to the raised hearth I built today for my NC13. I plan on going the micore, micore, durock, to get the R value I need. I don't have the Durock cut yet. My questions are these........


1. Do I secure each layer of micore individually, or wait until I fit and cut the Durock, and secure all 3 layers (micore, micore, durock) together with the 2.5" Durock screws???

2. Should I use any construction adhesive between the deck/micore, the micore/micore, or the micore/durock????

Should I use the Durock screws to attach this sandwich (micore, micore, durock) even under where the stove will sit on the hearth??? My hearth is essentially 6 feet wide by 4.5 feet deep. The stove will sit 12" off the rear wall; so should I avoid using the screws directly under the stove??

As you now from my thread I'm considering this stove too. I've been studying the manual as well and I have a question for you: Your building your pad 4.5 ft deep. Are you going to have more than the required 16 inches in front of the stove? I know the pad needs to be at least 42" deep plus you have to factor in that the stove needs to be at least 10" off the wall, your going 12". I'd probably do the same. I figured overall with everything considered the total depth of the hearth would be min 46" and I'd probably round up to 4ft for ease of tiling, appearance, etc. Just curious am I missing something or are you just adding and extra 6" in front of your hearth? Thanks.

According to the manual I got with my stove, it says the minimum hearth dimensions for the 13NC are 48x48 for floor protection. On page 8. I went the extra 6 inches depth-wise so I have some wiggle room, as I also need to clear a truss for my chimney. I went 6ft. wide to cover the patch in the wall I did when I removed a ZC fireplace. I'm gonna tile up the wall the 6ft. width and about 4ft. high after a layer of durock gets attached.

Thanks for the info. The pdf I've been looking at states on p.8 that the min dimensions can be 42 x 41.25. I'll use your dimensions and see how it looks. Thanks

The manual I got with my stove says right on the front cover......"Rev. 10/08"........so Trudd is correct with his dimensions. I still need the larger hearth for wiggle room to clear a truss.
