Black Birch or Cherry?

In case anyone is still keeping an eye on this thread, I am now 100% positive this was cherry. I don’t know what type specifically, but it is definitely not black birch. I came across a random unsplit small-medium round of what I know was black birch and split it this afternoon. The first 1-2 inches on the outside were rotten all the way around, and the smell was still very strong. The grain was definitely black birch and was not the same as the wood pics I posted, which again, I am now positive was cherry. Thanks for all the replies and input.
