For narrow boards with a short bar, it would work, and probably wouldn't be too hard to improve. The narrow board would make it a little harder to start a cut. I'd expect the angle iron to be less rigid than one would like, and the table leg might not last long. Still, a clever idea.

Last year at an estate sale I saw a larger homemade Alaskan-style attachment, welded together out of old bed frame parts.
