I am planning on putting in my new full liner this week from my insert. I was wondering if I need to insulate from where it comes out of the insert up to where it goes into the bottom block off plate.

I would say no most insulation valuye is from the blockoff plate to the chimney top cover. plus it is hard to get it looking good

any heat lost between the stove and damper plate is gained in the living space not a bad situation at all
