Is this brick in my chimney? Is it blocked off some how? I know previous owner had a wood furnace installed in here because it's in my barn now. This is my second chimney that starts in my basement. House was built in 1996 Chimney passageChimney passageChimney passage
 
yeah it looks like a very poorly done offset that does not meet any code requirements
 
Yeah, I got to thinking that. Hard to tell just by sticking my phone in the flue and snapping a pic. It's right at that height though where the basement wall stops. I need to clean it.
I think a rotary cleaner is really the only option for cleaning that
 
.I hope this chimney isn't junk.
I don't know about junk but i can tell you it does not meet code. And if you go to line it at some point it will mean cutting into the side of it to clear those brick and get the liner through
