I have a Harman XXV I'm off to buy a ton of pellets this morning. I know it burns Barefoots well but I'm tempted to try Cubex. Anyone with the same stove try cubex yet. Wondering how they burn compared to barefoot.

  2. As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with Cubex!:) I have an Accentra, and they burn hot and clean in it .I have burned many tons of Barefoot through my stove as well......in my experience, the Cubies burn hotter and cleaner. Where in N.H. are you planning to make the purchase?

I'm in Keene NH. The Hamshaw Lumber has both brands for $289.00 a ton
  5. WoodPorn Minister of Fire

    How about .5 of each?
Don't think you could go wrong either way...
  6. That is actually not a ridiculous price for either brand. If they sell by the bag, try a few bags of Cubex and compare for yourself.

  10. That's a decent price year round for those two top-shelf fuels! Both of those pellets are well over 300/ton right now at my local dealers.

I've got the Accentra, and my very first 2 tons were Cubex. Then I tried LaCrete's & Okies. What a difference. The Cubex were ok, but certainly no where near the heat of a good softwood.

    My P61 doesn't like them.
  15. Please explain "doesn't like"o_O
  16. I have the Harman Advance and have burned Okies, Vermonts and this year I started to buy the Cubex. I find very little difference In all 3 brands. The Cubes seam to burn slightly cleaner and leave a more fluffy ash. But they are $7.00 a bag and 300.00 a ton In the plaistow area of N.H. The Okies and Vermonts I bought last year were $289.00 a ton.I do like all 3 and would buy again

Price for the Cubex was only $259.00 a ton not to mention Hamshaw Lumber only charges $16.00 for delivery. I have found my new pellet place! However my 1st bag of Cubex is a little disappointing. I use a ryobi heat sensor gun & pointing it at the vent that blows the hot air the Barefoots get a higher reading.

I burned 5 bags last year and they were the worst pellets I burned all year. Lot of ash and not much heat.

I heard there were some issues with some of last years Cubex pellets but pellets change season to season.
Mine are fine but next year who knows.
I have heard others saying certain brands were great and oly to try them and they were terrible and heard others were bad and tried them and they were fine.
Enjoy the cold weather and warm pellet heat.

No the Hamshaw I go to is right here in Keene. They deliver for the $16.00 up to a 100 mile radius. At least that's what I think he told me.

They had a material sourcing issue, and had to buy on open market. At least that's what he said, when I complained about the fines.
