I'm 46. Most of my homes had fireplaces. I got the woodstove bug in the last
house I owned, which was a solar envelope home. It had no furnace; just baseboard heat and an
older Hearthstone soapstone stove. It heated the entire home, although it was sometimes
sauna-like in the basement, where it was located.
Our present home has a Majestic zero clearance fireplace, which will put out some space heat for the
great room but is a wood eating monster. Just ordered an Isle Royale wood stove. Plan to use this year
to break it in and will burn 24/7 next year.
