Hi I am new to the computer searches and stuff, But I can't seem to find sticky' or post, dedicated to the general install of a flex liner kit or inserts, I looked on the Wiki also, All the post i see kind of address someone's certain problem.

My story is, I am picking up a Napoleon 1101 wood insert and flex liner kit today, leaving actually after i post this, It is going in a outside wall masonry fireplace, chimney is 22 ft. This is my first time for a install, but i consider myself very mechanical.

Just from thinking what needs to be done, it seems pretty straight forward, Was just looking for a general guide of some do's and do not'

Thanks all, will be back in a few hours, look forward to the reply's, hope to install tomorrow.

P.S. I saw a post about doing a pre burn out in the driveway, to get rid of some of the new stove smell, any comments on this idea? And would I need to put a 6 ft rigid on just for this one or two times for draw? Or just let it burn with no pipe, thinking the smoke has to come out of course, maybe just not that as efficient as with pipe. What do you think?

R. I can't help with the flex liner but your idea with the preburn would work and yes, I'd put on a length of stove pipe. However, you will still need to do a slow burn once installed to cure the furnace cement, so why not do it all at once. The smell is not that bad and goes away rather quickly.

Not too many posts or articles about that - it is a topic I have to write on further. There is a thread tonight about one job.....here:
https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/12407/

and another situation here:
https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/12343/

But no general article. Yes, I need to do some work on that.......

I think the pre-burn is a tough nut for a lot of folks, but yes - put some pipe on it if you want to be able to get it up to temp.

Most of the kits and pipe have instructions, and each job is a little different, but here are some examples:

Thanks Craig and Backwoods

Backwoods mentioned a slow burn to cure furnace cement, my manual mentions nothing about this, could anyone tell me a little about this and anything else that you have found useful for new stove light ups. Thanks
