Monday it was official. The tank was insulated with 15 bags of blown in cellulose. Many showers taken with wood fired hot water. What a warm fuzzy feeling we all get from that. Today I told my wife to turn the heat up to whatever made her happy, there was a stunned silence, and when I came home for lunch it was a cozy 75-76 degrees.

It was alot of work, starting in May. Without the help of all of you at the boiler room, and Mark S. of A.H.O.N.A. this project may have not been a DIY. I thank all of you and am only hopeful I can help others someday.

For those of you who are wondering if you can do this yourself, well, if you are considering it in the first place then the answer is absolutely. Remain patient, organized, and finish a phase of the project before moving on to the next one.

Thanks again to all at Hearth, and special thanks to NoFo, Eric Johnson and Craig I.

Don't want to bore you all to death, so I will shut up and post a few picts from start to finish.

Kev

Congratulations. The building is beautiful. Great job!

The deal my wife struck with me when we made the decision to move to northern MN was that the house had to be warm. More dividends from keeping that deal than any market investment.

Nice setup , puts my little metal shed to shame. here's to heating with wood !

give us more... :)

how about some words to describe all the steps and in what order you took them on? Love those pictures!

tips you learned along the way... advice? what you migth changezx if anything?

Costs that were unexpected?

Congratulations. Looks like something that should be on a sales brochure.

Great job, Kev. Beautiful installation. Unlimited heat and hot water is a good thing.

Did you ever find out what the problem was with the controller? Was it a short?

Seems to have been an anomaly, it hasn't done it since. They sent me another controller, now wondering if I should send it back or buy it for 165.00

Looks awesome! I'm in the middle of a similar installation - what kind of sleeving (piping) did you use, and what kind and size of PEX did you use? Just curious.
