I know that measuring surface of double wall stove pipe is not helpful. I’m new to having double wall and was curious what surface temps are often seen when using an IR. Just out of curiosity. Thanks

51º outside. I let the fire go out so I can't measure right now. It will fall off depending on the distance above the stove.

My double wall outside with the gun is 142F 18 inches above stove top
Inside it’s 315F on the Condor probe 18 inches above stove top

as we speak

Ok thanks. In the bit of burning I’ve done with the new set up, I’ve seen the surface of the double wall in the low to mid 200’s when stove top cruising at 600’s or so. I’m guessing it’s normal, but wanted to see what people here see.

Sounds normal. I lit the stove tonight. After warming up, with a 610º flue temp the surface near the probe at 22" is 192º.
