Holy crap.

Wife thinks it is the best looking wood stove in the world.

I agree on the pipe, ...don't fix it if it's not broken. The draft should improve once the temp drops, and you already have more than the required amount of pipe. Gooder to go.
I'd love it if you'd post up some more pics and info when things get chilly.
I'll be patiently waiting, but .....hurry up. 47 here this am. Heat rises, right? So, I can almost feel the heat from that fire all the way up here.
DexterDay said:One last question. I have read where some users still use a Damper in the Flue section.
Because I have Double wall, can I just by the "Kit" that just comes with the damper plate, rod, and spring??
Or because I have Double wall, do I have to buy the stove adapter from Simpson??
The stove is drawing really good. It was 71 the night I installed and had great draft and fantastic secondaries. Was about 56 Last night and did a little better (Could have been the wood. Used Pine last night ... Ahhhh > NO, NOT PINE LOL, mixed with some ash and silver maple)
So my thought is, it couldnt hurt to have one. if it needs left wide open? Then so be it. But would be a nice feature. IMO. I think the kit was $17 from the local store. Rod is long enough to go through my Pipe. Just need to drill a hole?? I think?
Anyone ever use a kit instead of the adapter that comes with the damper?
Thanks again everybody. I am hooked. Had the basement to about 90 last night. Still got a lot to learn about when to shut down the air and what the fire should look like when I do so. The glass was clean this morning and at 10 a.m. there was a good bed of coals. I threw the last 2 splits in at 1:30 a.m. and settled in for the night. I can see myself spending a lot of time downstairs now... A Lot!!

I haven't used a damper in a double wall pipe, but am going to use one with my Englander 30 in the single wall stove pipe. This is not to regulate the draft, but to give me something to help shut down things in the event of a run away stove.
Good luck,
Bill
