Gotta keep it short, she's beckoning me back outside to make some more chips!

This thing just SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDES on through the logs, and I just let the weight of the saw and the pulling action do all the work!

Considering I NEVER started or ran a saw before I am pretty proud!

This sweet machine started after only a few pulls after being shipped DRY, then every warm start was one pull, and that is using 40:1 with the crap 91 octain stuff.

Congrats! A good pro saw is extra dangerous because it's soooo easy to become addicted. We'll notify the neighbors that no tree is safe within a 500 yard radius. :)

FYI, rou can run 50:1 with good 2-cycle oil. If you ran it "out of the box," I'd consider taking it to a good Stihl shop to get it tuned properly or tune it yourself.

And if you haven't seen them yet, watch the Stihl chainsaw videos. Great for n00bs:

    With apologies to Ray Charles.

Oh, it's filing time again, you need to sharpen
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way it's making sawdust
That it won't be long before it's filing time.

Nice work ya done there. Keep enjoying that bad boy.

Looks good Don and nice saw that can handle most anything! Nothing wrong with 91 octane fuel in a chainsaw BTW it is what Stihl recommends using..

Great job on getting the right saw and cutting the wood, I'd hate to be your neighbors being that close..... Ha just kidding, enjoy, do you have a fire pit near by? If not, you better work on one, you need to burn any scrap, dust, uglies, ect, get going and be safe...

Most around here mis-identify hackberry as elm. Even had one arborist tell me my big hackberry is an elm.

Dunno what could smell like a pig farm, but some swamp oaks smell like piss. ;sick

Glad it's running good for you... (Knew it would ;))

After your 40:1 is gone, just run 50:1 (I told him to run 40:1 for the break in)

Keep it maintained, and chain sharp, and it will last long time.

I disagree. I think that sharp smell is more like steak sauce. I like it.

I've run into a few that made me think that I was in a cow pasture, and they were all pin oak. My understanding is that a fungus causes this.

Most oak smells wonderful to me! Like oak boards at the lumber yard.

You are right.....around here, we do not differentiate much between a pin and a northern red, but what I have been cutting is pin and it smells like poo.

Now that you have it in your hands with a little run time - do you still think you need a little saw??
