    . . . and to keep the body part from being directly on ice as this may cause damage. Cool = good. Freezing = possibly bad.

    I'm a retired Safety Officer, and a Wilderness First Responder too. I agree with the above except for knocked out teeth, you want to keep them wet. Put those in some milk until you can get to immediate dental care.

    Hope your Dad recovers without too much pain and suffering Joful. Watched my BL do the same thing a few years back, like some of the other posts above, healed well over time, just shorter with less sensation and movement. As always, take care!
