I searched here and on the Hearthstone website.

Did hearthstone make a stove that burned coal, or is this poster just not aware?
On hearthstone site, in the FAQ, It says that the stoves cannot burn coal.
Just wondering if this is an older model that could.

Here's the link.

Coal was an option, yes.

A version of the H-I/H-II Manual is posted here: https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/30034/

On page 9 of the .pdf (page 7 of the manual) it states "Some Hearthstone stoves are available with optional Coal Conversion Kit (H-II), optional Hot Water Coil (H-I & -II), and optional right-hand door..." At least two of those appear on this stove.

But as I look in further detail, I get more mystified. This stove is advertised as weighing 313 lbs, having no cat, measuring 24x16x26 (WxDxH), and accepting 16" logs. The manual states the H-II weighs 470 lbs, does have a cat, measures 27x21x27, and accepts 18" to 20" logs.

What the heck kinda stove is this thing??

(Regardless, at $800/obo, I'd call it a steal - so long as it's not cracked someplace badly.)
