What's the best way to attach a damper gasket to a damper? Stove cement or something else?

What the heck ya talking about HW? Damper in the stove pipe. Damper in the stove? Never seen a damper gasket in my old tired life.

If you mean the damper plate in that Exception, use furnace cement.

Thats what I mean. OK Went to start a fire and saw the gasket hanging down....Had to rip the whole damm thing apart to get to the gasket! Doh! Think I might have lost one of the damper clips in the ash or something as well...No patience to look right now!

run a magnet through the ashes, and you'll find it quick.

I actually ran my hand through the cooler ashes this morning....Found it pretty quick!
